EVERETT ESTATE HISTORY
This property's rich history traces back to its original owner, Dr. Charles Everett. This esteemed physician had the honor of serving as the personal physician for not just one but three American Presidents: Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe. However, it was his close friendship with Thomas Jefferson that truly shaped the legacy of the Estate. Together, they would venture from their separate residences in Charlottesville- Monticello and the Belmont Tract- to this very location, formerly known as Upland Manor. It was here that they would find solace in the serene surroundings and revel in the bountiful opportunities for hunting and fishing. We gladly paid homage to Dr. Everett by bestowing his prestigious name upon the Estate that now stands as a testament to his incredible legacy.
While the property has changed hands multiple times throughout its history, its most recent iteration was as a thriving Bed and Breakfast, The Mark Addy Inn. Renowned for its exceptional hospitality and on-site restaurant, The Mark Addy Inn fostered a sense of community in Nelson County for countless years.
Purchased in 2022, the inn embarked upon a meticulous and loving restoration process, both inside and out, culminating in an opulent boutique experience that can cater to up to 125 guests for weddings and events. The rejuvenated design pays respect to a bygone era and reflects modern sensibilities by showcasing an array of vibrant and unique guest rooms, elegant common areas, and a complete revitalization of the surrounding grounds. These elements are masterfully intertwined through an enchanting color scheme and recurring patterns, ultimately creating an ambiance that captivates guests and transports them to an enchanting era of the past with a contemporary twist.
When you choose to rent the entire Estate, you gain exclusive access to our charming historic setting and enjoy a host of additional amenities and services. With personalized itinerary planning, you can make the most of your stay, while common areas provide the perfect space for relaxation and gathering. To ensure the comfort of your guests, additional bathrooms are available outside the guest rooms, and a commercial kitchen awaits for culinary endeavors.
Our private meeting room can accommodate smaller functions and events. It's worth noting that all events and weddings are do-it-yourself affairs. We offer a preferred vendor list to assist you and are open to discussing alternative options with your own chosen vendors to maintain standard practices and exceptional quality.
